Studying animation at Newport is about combining professional practice with innovation. To this end, they produce creative, critically aware graduates who are fully prepared for the industry. They offer the ability to develop a career in animation through specialist practical strands, in drawn, computer and 3D stopmotion, and the support of groundbreaking experimental approaches to animation. This is framed by a comprehensive series of Animation Studies, for which Newport is a recognised centre of excellence.
Located in a region renowned for its thriving animation community, between Cardiff and Bristol, the course benefits from being one of only six in the country to have attained a Skillset accreditation. This means that they have excellent relations with a variety of key studios and companies. These support our professional practice assignments (through work placements and live projects), our guest lecturer series and our own research culture.
