Open Door Awards

The Skillset Open Door Awards ran from 2005-2007 and provided a passport of media skills training and networking opportunities for London media talent who are disabled or from minority ethnic groups seeking their next step up the career ladder.

The scheme provided 40 talented people from across London with an Award to develop their skills and knowledge within their chosen field. Projects covered New Media, Radio Journalism and HD Video Production.

The beneficiaries completed their training and delivered their projects to a high standard and have since secured employment or gone on to study within their specialist area at Further and Higher Education institutions.

Diversity is at the heart of Skillset's work. By helping to develop the talent who will be creating content that will attract and build the new audiences of the future, we are hoping to help redress the current representational imbalance in our industries.
