What is the Creative Capital Fund ?
The CCF is a £5 million equity fund that helps talented entrepreneurs and businesses in London's creative industries achieve their potential by providing seed capital investment and business support. It was established in March 2005 as part of the Creative London programme. Creative London is the strategic agency for the creative industries and is part of the London Development Agency.
It is designed to address a genuine need for funding and advice for the capital's creative sector. Together with matching private investment, which is required for each transaction, the CCF results in over £10million of new funding availabel for creative enterprises.
London's creative industries have shown to be a major friving force behind the overall growth of the capital's economy. To support this, one of the tasks of Creative London has been to provide support and funding to encourage growth for the abundance of creative talent in the capital and turn it into a competitive advantage.
How it works
AXM indentifies creative companies with high growth potential in need of finance and if not already in place, helps the business raise matching equity funding from private investors. The private investors may be high net worth individuals (business angels), but may also include corporations and other funds. Equally, the entrepreneur may provide the matched funding.
AXM's role also includes attracting business advisors and mentors who can bring commercial expetise. While raising investment is critical, creating the right advisory support team is also vital because a comany's management is likely to need guiddance and the benefit of an extended network during periods of rapid growth.
Who is the CCF aimed at ?
The fund is dedicated to the creative sector and is limited to businesses based within London, as defined by the Greater London Authority.
