Train your staff to use IT
To get the best value out of your investment in IT, you'll want to train your staff to use the equipment and software that you have set up. Help is at hand in the shape of ITQ from e-skills UK, a service that helps both employer and employee to assess and develop the skills they need.
ITQ is the National Vocational Qualification for IT users. It's called the Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) for IT Users in Scotland.
'IT user' means anyone who uses IT, at any level. The qualification is not aimed at specialist engineers, programmers and developers. You are an IT user if you have switched on your computer and browsed your way to this web page.
ITQ has been designed to provide you with an up-to-date IT user qualification for your workforce, tailored to the needs of your business and your staff. It uses the e-skills Passport, a detailed online tool that helps you:
- assess the level of skill your employees already have
- identify any skills gaps that you want to fill
- plan and monitor training to fill the gaps
- customise training - in standard and bespoke software - that exactly fits your company's needs and objectives
- develop clear and achievable career pathways for your workforce
You'll find more about ITQ and e-skills, and how they can help employers, at the ITQ e-skills website and at the e-skills Passport Office website.
