How to apply for funding

It's important to do your homework before you apply for production or development funding from a Regional Screen Agency. Screen agencies will not usually accept unsolicited scripts or ideas and they usually set strict eligibility criteria.

You stand a better chance of getting your funding if:

  • Your ideas are well thought-out and well-presented
  • You have applied for the most appropriate fund
  • You read the guidelines carefully before you fill in the application

Questions you'll need to ask include:

  • When is the deadline for applications?
  • Who is eligible?
  • What is the maximum funding we can apply for?
  • What can we spend the money on?
  • What can't we spend the money on?
  • How much of the funding must we match ourselves?
  • What measurable outcomes do we have to achieve?
  • Where do we obtain the application form?
  • When will we hear if our application is successful?
  • If we are successful when will the money come through?

Some agencies invite you to phone and discuss your application before you fill in the form.
