How to apply for funding
It's important to do your homework before you apply for production or development funding from a Regional Screen Agency. Screen agencies will not usually accept unsolicited scripts or ideas and they usually set strict eligibility criteria.
You stand a better chance of getting your funding if:
- Your ideas are well thought-out and well-presented
- You have applied for the most appropriate fund
- You read the guidelines carefully before you fill in the application
Questions you'll need to ask include:
- When is the deadline for applications?
- Who is eligible?
- What is the maximum funding we can apply for?
- What can we spend the money on?
- What can't we spend the money on?
- How much of the funding must we match ourselves?
- What measurable outcomes do we have to achieve?
- Where do we obtain the application form?
- When will we hear if our application is successful?
- If we are successful when will the money come through?
Some agencies invite you to phone and discuss your application before you fill in the form.
