In your own words, briefly describe your job
''Being a Technical Services Manager, I provide technical support to editors and clients working within the facility. This can mean anything from bringing an editor up to date with advances in software levels to explaining the problems with photo sensitive epilepsy and television pictures. I also install and maintain hardware and research and evaluate emerging technologies.''
How did you get into the industry?
''I got into the industry by starting as a runner and made progress through VT (Video Transmission) as an operator and moved into management.''
What advice would you give to someone whose career needed a kick-start?
''Learn all you can from as many people as you can. If your knowledge is broad, your work will be also.''
How do you make sure that you keep up with current developments in your field?
''The internet can be a great place for finding things out. Also never forget that your colleagues all know something you don't - learn from them!''
What advice would you give to someone whose career needed a kick-start?
''Remember that management is a very different role to just engineering, stay well back from the problem and see the bigger picture, you're no longer there just to fix it...''
