SW - First Post success int he South West
The trainees for South West's Pilot First Post scheme graduated last Tuesday, at Goldbrick House in Bristol, after a really successful course. First Post is an innovative new entrants scheme for runners working within post production and production companies in the region. It was the first time it has run in the South West, but Skillset had successfully run it twice in London already.
South West First Post, funded by the South West Regional Development Agency and South West Screen, was a modular scheme which used local industry trainers to give the trainees a thorough grounding in technical operations, customer and commercial skills.
The trainees attended two days every three weeks, over a six month period. Seven trainees completed the course: Jason Hart and Tom Bober from TwoFour Digital, Bob Door and Roy Noy from Films at 59, Lucinda Carter from the BBC, Duncan Newton from Aardman and Cat Jardine from Tigress Productions.
"Suddenly, you understand not just what to do but why! You can prioritise and ask the right questions. You do it right and you do it efficiently."
Bob Door, trainee from Films at 59.
