Behind the scenes on Casino Royale

Who To Talk To Next

When planning special physical effects in a public place who should you approach to get permission?

Your first step should be to contact your Regional Screen Agency (RSA) as they offer a location service. As part of this service your RSA can help source suitable locations, crew or facilities and some offer an intermediary service with the local council and police, who will need to be present during all filming in a public street.

You will need to give the appropriate council and police representatives advance notice, particularly when explosive or hazardous physical special effects are being used as part of filming. This could include the highways agency, the local council or borough, or transport agency (for example, Transport for London).

Follow the link to find a click through map of the UK's police departments. This can take you to the webpage of the relevant police force you will need to talk to - Police Contacts Interactive Map

Thirty two London boroughs (the City of London borough is excluded) are represented through the Film Unit - Police Film Unit for London
