Sky Movies Short Film Competition

Sky Movies HD channel

Sky Movies Indie HD Channel searches for next best thing in UK Filmmaking: in association with The Independent and Skillset.

Sky Movies is offering one independent film maker the unique opportunity to have their own HD film financed and broadcast on air by Sky.

Aspiring film makers are invited to submit their own one-page treatment for a 10 minute HD short film. A panel of industry experts including Sky Movies' Movie Geek presenter Josh Howie, will consider these treatments, before announcing the winner in December.

The winning film maker will be awarded £5,000 for equipment hire to shoot and edit their film in High Definition with the film to be shown on Sky Movies Indie HD in the New Year.

Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies said,

"We've always been proud to showcase independent British film on Sky Movies and now we're going one step further by searching for the country's directorial talent of tomorrow. This competition gives that person the chance to have their work seen by a wide audience at the very beginning of their career."

Skillset will provide tailored advice and support for the winning filmmaker to help them make their film and think about their future career.

Neil Peplow, Director of Film at Skillset said,

"The competition is a unique opportunity for any aspiring film-maker out there. To get advice from industry experts and then get your film shown on a major television network will provide a major boost to the career of the winning filmmakers."

Sky Movies Indie HD is devoted to screening the best in independent film and has now become the tenth channel on the network to be transmitted in high definition, ensuring that independent movie fans can enjoy the widest variety of films in the highest quality.

To get filmmaking tips from John Howie by watching Movie Geek on Wednesdays 11 November at 6.00 p.m. on Sky Movies Indie HD.

The competition closes at midday on Friday 4th December.
