Skillset is supporting a number of events and festivals to promote skills and training in the UK film industry.

Of these events, the following are set to take place in the latter half of 2008:

Sheffield Doc/Fest
5 - 9 November 2008
Skillset is funding MeetMarket. MeetMarket equips independent UK documentary producers and filmmakers with the necessary skills to pitch their projects in an international marketplace and to thereby secure international finance. Find out more at the website below.

Encounters Short Film Festival
18 - 23 November 2008
Skillset has supported Encounters festival over the past few years. We are currently discussing what our support with be for this year, so keep an eye out here to see what we have planned for 2008.

Deaffest - Film & TV Festival
28 - 30 November 2008
Skillset sponsored Deaffest for the first time in 2007. We hope to support them again in 2008. Keep an eye out for further developments.

British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs)
30 November 2008
Skillset has sponsored the Technical Achievement Award at the BIFAs for the past few years. Last year's winner was Mark Tildesley, for Production Design on Sunshine. Keep an eye out for the nominees for 2008, to be announced at the end of October 2008.
