The overall aim of A Bigger Future, and therefore the Fund, is to bring the UK film industry a competitive edge, enabling us to compete in the global market place on the basis of the highest level of skills.

Put simply, we aim to ensure that there are enough of the right people, with the right level of skills, in the right place, at the right time, to meet the needs of the global industry. We do this by funding projects that:

• Ensure an adequate supply of skilled and talented professionals;


• Increase knowledge of and access to working in the film industry;


• Improve the diversity of the film industry workforce;


• Provide structured routes into and through the industry;


• Increase the quality and range of skills development opportunities available;


• Ensure that the workforce has current skills which keep pace with changing technologies;


• Raise knowledge and awareness of skills development opportunities and their benefits;


• Raise knowledge and awareness of career development opportunities in the industry.

Everything we support has to meet at least one of these objectives and all projects must contribute towards widening the diversity of the film industry's workforce.
