The following organisations provide media training, support and information for people with disabilities.

On their websites you can find a wealth of helpful information and resources aimed at helping disabled people get into and get on in the media, as well as showcasing the talents of disabled media professionals.

4 Disabled Talent
Channel 4's database containing details of disabled people who want to work in TV, either on screen or behind the camera. Also designed to help programme makers find disabled people to take part in programmes.

Access to Arts: Best PracticeThe Arts Council's publications include an online guide to best practice in opening access to the arts to people with disabilities, compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act, and numerous other useful topics related to this issue.

Deaf Focus Film Festival A festival of films made by deaf filmmakers, hosted in Edinburgh.

London Disability Arts Forum Works to foster mainstream access for disabled artists and promote the image of disability arts and culture.                                                                               

Mental Health Media Media skills training, advice and production services to promote the voices of mental health service users.

Mediafirst Mediafirst uses the media to help people with learning difficulties to communicate about the things that are important to them.

Shape The UK's leading disability arts organisation; Shape improves access to the arts for deaf and disabled people, and empowers deaf and disabled artists to challenge perceptions and promote Deaf and Disability Culture.

Your Local Cinema The one–stop–shop for accessible cinema, including information on subtitled and audio described screenings.

Vee TV VEE–TV is made both by and for deaf young people. The programme is a co–production for Channel 4 between two award–winning independent production companies – Resource Base and Maverick Television.

Broadcasting and Creative Industries Disability Network (BCIDN) – The BCIDN brings together the UK's major broadcasters to explore and address disability as it relates to the media industry. The Network makes it easier for members to recruit and retain disabled people and to promote and share best practice across the industry.
