Creative Exchange Course for RED Digital Imaging Technicians
Two-day RED Digital Imaging Technician Courses are now available at the Creative Exchange.
- A RED Digital Imaging Technician (D.I.T) is a relatively new role within the film industry and is an essential RED shoot crew member requiring expert knowledge of the system and the images it creates.
- A RED D.I.T on a shoot is responsible for the technical set up of the camera and also the safe keeping and processing of the digital data created. He/she is also the on set bridge between production and post-production.
Who is this course suitable for?
This course is designed primarily for camera crew and directors of photography but it will also be very useful for directors, producers and editors who wish to expand their knowledge of digital cinema production. The course is aimed at freelancers with minimal or no experience of using the RED camera.
Creative Exchange particularly welcome applications from women, because they are under represented in the film industry in the camera departments.
This course is subsidised by Skillset Film Skills Fund. To be eligible for this funding you need to be a freelancer working regularly in the film industry. In order to process your application Creative Exchange will require your CV.

What will the training consist of?
You will receive training in the latest skills needed to work as a RED D.I.T. on a professional shoot. Training will consist of an instructor led two day course.
Each class will consist of a maximum of 5 delegates per session giving you maximum service to promote effective learning. You will gain the skills you need to confidently control the technical side of RED camera operation and manage the data correctly.
Over two days you will learn how to set-up the camera, acquire and back up media and create rushes and distribute them over various platforms including mobile devices and the Internet.
Prerequisites
To gain maximum benefit from this training you'll need to have a basic knowledge of the Mac operating system, high definition video cameras, non-linear editing (Final Cut Pro) and moving-image production workflow.
Cost
The cost for those who meet the eligibility criteria is £300+VAT. Subsidised places are limited, however, further courses at full cost courses will be available in the near future.
