An intensive, hands-on workshop to give TV professionals the creative and conceptual skills to work in the new paradigm of 360-degree production.

It will leave you with a thorough understanding of what is meant by, and how to develop, multiplatform offerings, how they differ from linear TV propostions, know what different broadcasters (and new commissioners) are after, and how the funding and financing works out. In between formal sessions, you will workshop cross-media ideas to a brief which you will then pitch to a multiplatform commissioner at a subsequent evening session.

Developing Multiplatform Ideas
University College Falmouth

What makes a strong multiplatform project? How can you develop cutting edge ideas and pitch them to get commissions?

Led by Richard Williams, Head of Multiplatform Productions, BBC Vision. 

An intensive workshop followed by expert industry guidance online, you'll hone a multiplatform idea in response to a current commissioning brief.

Participants will explore the generation of ideas, new opportunities and trends, shifts in audience behaviours, developments in technologies and content, emerging development processes, and current commissioning needs.

With just 8-14 participants, this responsive course fits flexibly around existing work commitments.

Cross-platform: Generating New Projects and Markets

A one-day workshop to encourage TV, digital media and interactive producers to develop their skills and business by creating, planning and pitching cross-platform projects for different markets.

As well as multiplatform productions for TV, other outlets can include internet-only, non-broadcast, public sector, branded and advertiser-funded projects. Expert practitioners in these markets will tell you about these business opportunities and discuss how to generate content for them. During this workshop you will develop cross-platform projects and then pitch them to a TV commissioner or other potential buyer.

Aimed at Producers, APs, project and operations managers, and other production team members of TV and/or digital media and interactive companies wanting to devise cross-platform projects for all markets.

Fee: £150 freelance + Pact members rate / £100 ITF members rate

Lead tutor, Richard Land, who has successfully developed, pitched and produced millions of pounds worth of interactive and cross-platform projects will examine emergent trends and what makes multi-platform projects different from broadcast. Other subjects include identifying what funders are looking for, finding partners and intellectual property issues. Participants will also have a valuable chance to hone their development and pitching skills.
