So what do you know?

If you were in charge of giving 14-19 year old future members of your industry the skills and knowledge they need to prepare them for working in Computer Games, what would you teach them?

That's the challenge facing developers of the new Creative & Media Diploma for 14-19 year olds - an upcoming alternative vocational qualification designed to give young people a solid grounding in the skills needed for creative industries. Industry input is key to getting this right. We need to hear what you have to say about it all.

Industry-identified Essential Knowledge and Skills For Computer Games

The aim is to define learning objectives that will give a young person a fundamental and realistic understanding of the sector, as well as a set of valuable transferable skills that will equip them with the capacity to progress into further education and training within the same subject area - or into a different field of study, should they choose to.

The following broad learning objectives have been identified and form the indicative content of the principal learning component of the Diploma. This list is not exhaustive; your input is invited to indentify further essential sector specific knowledge and skills.

  • Platforms, applications and technology
  • Emerging technologies
  • Basic computer graphics and image representation
  • User interfacing and interactivity

  • Observational drawing
  • Developing creative ideas and exploring possibilities

  • 2D image creation
  • Storyboarding
  • Visual design
