Recent research suggests that the Interactive Media sector is expanding, with signs of particularly strong growth in computer gaming. The region plays host to some of the UK's leading games developers including Climax On-line in Nottingham, Eurocom and Circle Studios in Derby and Free Radical in Sandiacre near Nottingham. Leicester has a number of digital media companies specialising in fashion and web design.
Loughborough University houses the Digital Animation Workshops, a flexible learning initiative that links into emerging new animation companies and established multimedia companies and animation studios Atmospheres and Ten Alps Red Welly Studios are based in Derby.
