Case Study - Dare to be Digital
We run the Dare to be Digital competition (www.daretobedigital.com) - now the pathway to the BAFTA Ones to Watch Award to be presented at the British Academy Video Games Awards.
We have three centres running currently across the UK (Dundee, Belfast and Guildford) where we have teams of talented arts and science students working for ten weeks during the summer to develop prototype video games that they will pitch to industry. We will bring them all together for our Dare ProtoPlay showcase event in Edinburgh 12-14 August. This event will be a significant public facing cultural and educational event (see http://www.daretobedigital.com/protoplay/). We hope to attract a high number of family visitors with younger children - some of whom will be seeking audio visual careers in the future, together with many teenagers not attending in family groups and also games industry practitioners. The event is being promoted in the Edinburgh Fringe programme and also coincides with Edinburgh Interactive.
Dare ProtoPlay is a fabulous public-facing opportunity to showcase Skillset's work in this sector and you may wish to have a small stand with literature available at the event. You may also be interested in advertising (alongside BAFTA) in our event programme, which is being produced comic style.
