Qualifications, Training and Standards
Publishing has a highly qualified workforce, with nearly half holding an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
As a result, higher education provides a substantial entry route into the industry. In addition, there are a number of areas where specific, vocational qualifications may be required. Most companies provide on the job or in-house training with formal and informal supplementary external training.
There are also a number of National Occupational Standards that are relevant to the industry. These are recognised and valued by a growing number of employers and provide tools for developing job profiles, identifying training needs and feed into the development of vocational qualifications.
