Books and Journals
The Publishing Training Centre (PTC) has upgraded the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for publishing which are aimed mainly at book publishing though much content is relevant to journal publishers.
These include knowledge and skills requirements for electronic publishing. This process has now been completed and the new National Occupational Standards have been officially approved for use by the industry.
The NOS explain, in simple language, what publishers should be able to do and what they need to know to perform their jobs effectively. As such they have become an important resource for the publishing community who use them for designing job descriptions, for recruiting, for building skills profiles and training plans, and for many other purposes.
