Advisory Groups
The Diploma Development Partnership (DDP) is a partnership of five advisory groups, a strategic group and a steering group, representing different stakeholders including industry, Higher Education and awarding bodies. The five advisory groups have a responsibility to address all consortia needs. These groups work around topics under the following headings:
Higher Education (HE)
This group brings together representatives from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and Higher Education sector networks, to provide specialist input and guidance to the DDP on all Higher Education matters relating to:
- Achieving recognition and currency for the Diploma in Creative and Media.
- Admissions and progression into relevant HE programmes.
- Development/utilisation of Level 4 Units to provide bridging and stretch for Level 3 learners.
- Collaborative delivery in consortia including sharing of resources.
- Development of projects to support consortia delivery - including Continual Professional Development (CPD) and curriculum design.
- Future design and development of the Diploma in Creative and Media.
Professional Development
Representatives from Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT), Quality Improvement Agency (QIA), Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA), National College for School Leadership (NCSL), Centre for Excellence (CEL) and Nord Anglia make up this group. They offer input to the DDP on matters relating to professional development, including:
- Identification of professional development needs of consortia.
- Design and development of appropriate professional development (generic professional development; creative and media sector specific professional development; leadership and management development).
- A range of delivery approaches to professional development.
- Promotion of professional development.
- Consideration of accreditation of professional development
Specialist Expert
Specialist Experts are creative and cultural organisations such as Arts Council England, Engage and the Moving Image Training Alliance. This group is intended to identify models of existing good practice, to offer strategic guidance on industry involvement in curriculum planning and delivery, and to help define the national and regional offer of support for consortia.
Awarding Body
This group comprises the Diploma Awarding Bodies, OCR, Edexcel, AQA/City & Guilds, and the Component Awarding Bodies who are approved to deliver components of the Diploma. They advise on emerging issues relating to the Diploma, in particular in relation to consortia support, curriculum planning, awarding arrangements and assessment.
Practitioners
This group has not yet been formed, but it will provide an opportunity for consortia to input directly into the DDP. During the Regional Focus Groups, Skillset will request that the group put forward one member to represent their region on the Practitioner Advisory Group.
Practitioners will then meet three times, each time following the Regional Focus Groups, and bring forward the interests and concerns of each region. Membership of this group will be rolling, so that regions can send a different representative to each meeting if they wish.
