The role of the DDP
The Diploma Development Partnership (DDP) for Creative and Media is a partnership of five advisory groups, a strategic group and a steering group, representing different stakeholders including industry, Higher Education (HE) and awarding bodies. The DDP is using the expertise and advice gathered through those groups in order to develop models of working to promote successful delivery of the Diploma.
Achieving employer engagement is the DDP's main responsibility so that the Diploma has full industry support.
Employer engagement brings to the curriculum a larger vision of flexible applied learning. The Diploma develops the essential skills and capabilities that meet employer's needs and give students the opportunity to broaden their careers options. The means to achieve this is work related learning in partnership with employers.
The DDP's objectives were established in consultation with regional consortia earlier this year, as follows:
- Work in partnership with others including Education Business Partnerships (EBPs) and Higher Education (HE).
- Encourage employers to engage with the effective provision of information, advice and guidance.
- Communicate the value of the Diploma and raise awareness and understanding amongst all audiences.
- Obtain resources to address legal and health and safety barriers to effective work placements.
- Secure longer term funding to support sustainable levels of active employer engagement.
