The Diploma: designed for the world of work
The Diploma in Creative and Media is a new qualification for 14 to 19 year olds that will help them progress into higher education and future employment.
Employers want new employees to have more developed functional skills and a better awareness of the world of work. So, the Diploma was designed by industry practitioners from the creative and media industries, working with the education sector.
And not only did employers help create the Diploma - it is only with the involvement of employers, like you, that it can now be delivered successfully.
The Diploma combines theoretical study with projects and activities that enable young people to apply their skills and knowledge in realistic situations. Half of the 'Principal Learning' component of the Diploma takes the form of work related learning.
Work related learning is any activity that brings students into contact with the world of work, or work related issues. It can take a range of different forms and covers a whole spectrum of different work related activity. This means that businesses of any size can get involved.
All Diploma students are also required to undertake a minimum of 10 days' work experience as part of their Diploma studies.
