Gateway 3

Gateway 3 is the selection process schools, colleges and other providers need to go through in order to be selected as successful consortia to deliver the Diploma.

The deadline for Gateway 3 applications is 26 November 2008. Education providers can engage in this new round of the selection from September onwards.

The purpose of Gateway 3 is to assess centres against a clear set of criteria, to ensure that they have the capacity, facilities and employer engagement required to deliver the Diploma to the highest possible standard.

Consortia can apply for one or more Diploma lines of the 14 lines of learning, with the aim to start teaching from September 2010.

The assessment of applications rates overall consortium readiness, as well as the line-specific requirements for each line of learning centres are applying to teach.

For information on the application process, including guidance on completing applications, please follow the link below:
Department for children, schools and families (DCSF) website

The guidance includes core advice from the Creative and Media Diploma Development Partnership (DDP), explaining line-specific requirements for the Diploma in Creative and Media.

The DDP is a partnership of three Sector Skills Councils (SSCs): Skillset, Creative and Cultural Skills and Skillfast-UK, working with a wider stakeholder group including industry, Higher Education and awarding bodies. It has put together guidance drawn from the lessons learnt through the previous Gateway 1 and 2 selections to help new applicants.

The documents below are provided as supplementary information and guidance to DCSF's guidance. Institutions are encouraged to read and use them when applying.

Aspirant consortia should also consult the Consortia Toolkit in order to build their approach to employer engagement into their Gateway 3 applications.

We've compiled a list of Gateway 3 FAQs which should prove very informative for centres to read on. Please use the link above to access them.
