Immediate Theatre
Immediate Theatre was set up in 1996 to bring the arts to the people. It is a founder member of Hackney Theatre Partnership. The theatre has a number of projects that work mainly with young people aged 8 to 25 years.
The Interactions project works with youngsters who have been excluded from mainstream education. It has been running for seven years and is set to be extended to other East London boroughs.
The Theatre Pathways project promotes opportunities for young people in East London through a range of training and work placements. It helps participants to develop CVs, look for jobs, find alternative programmes and complete application forms to colleges and universities.
Immediate Theatre has also developed a 12-month training programme that participants can access, including one day training courses in front of house, drama facilitation and one week technical theatre training.
Local young people now have wider awareness of possible career options and training opportunities within the arts. Youngsters show increased personal confidence and a wide range of technical theatre and theatre related skills.
Industry employers can better sustain current levels of service and have an increased ability to recruit a diverse workforce.
