The story so far... In their own words
Laura (Kent & Medway)
The guys I'm working with at GCap - I couldn't have asked to work with a nicer bunch of people; I feel like part of the team. I've been introduced to most of the people in the building, attended meetings and even produced an updated newsletter and forward planner. I love it, they have been training me in how to use Adobe Edition - uploading Audio clips, ordering in new albums and Singles and (I) even got the chance to do a bit of design.

I've been dizzy! Working away on my placement, it's pretty full on, but brilliant and (I'm) loving it. I'm getting to the hard stuff now, under pressure, with loads of interviews to do. Got an MP arriving at 10:30 in the studio tomorrow for an interview with me, I'm going to get a quick lesson in recording her in-house, so that will be interesting. Once all (the) interviews (are) done, I then have to edit and re-write all my stories into documentaries, for air the following week!
Chris (Sussex & Surrey)
I've... got 2 weeks ‘work placement' at Wise Buddah. I applied before with no response, but when I emailed them saying about RiR (Route into Radio) I got a reply asking to see my CV and (I) am now finding a date (when) I can start!
Dave (Kent & Medway)
Over the past few months I've been to a couple of film premieres, filled in for a journalist when there was a sudden illness, had shed loads of show promos and productions played out, made CDs for OBs, tech op-ed the studio, compiled ROTs for clients, written some 250 ‘£1000-minute' quiz questions and made lots of tea. It's definitely been eventful!
It's (the course) been a great experience. I've benefitted hugely from it, both in experience and confidence and hopefully other opportunities may steam from it. Surely anything that can get me out of bed a 4am everyday without me ever objecting can't be a bad thing!
Barbara (Kent & Medway)
I have been helping out on Roger Day's evening programmes... and I have had to opportunity to sit in with the broadcast journalists, gathering the news items, going out on the street interviewing people, preparing the schedule for the Breakfast Show, seeing how the programme, news, sport, goes out. I have had a ball!! Everyone has been incredibly pleasant and helpful... and I really don't want to leave!!
Mike (Hampshire & Isle of White)
The course to date has lived up to and exceeded all my expectations. Previously my knowledge of radio was largely limited to the public sector, so it's really nice to get a panorama of the industry as a whole as it currently stands and an insight into all the career options available, together with a pinch of history for good measure. This grounding is all the more welcome especially in what can sometimes be such a shapeless, fluid business.
Ella (Hampshire & Isle of Wight)
The internship has really lived up to my expectations; I have found the presentations from all of the industry professionals very interesting and insightful.
