Research
Before the skills needs of the creative media industries can be addressed, they must first be identified. Skillset operates a comprehensive programme of research about the industries themselves and the training provision available to them. Our research programme is endorsed by the industry. We are the leading specialists in providing research for the creative media industries. Our research programme enables us to:
- Understand the size, shape and make-up of the creative media industries' workforce;
- Identify skills gaps and shortages and inform Skillset's investment in training to address these problems;
- Enable employers to prioritise internal training;
- Identify diversity and access issues in the industry and work with other industry bodies to improve representation;
- Influence government policy to ensure HE and FE provision meets industry need;
- Use labour market intelligence (LMI) to attract investment from government and its public agencies into the creative media industries; and
- Inform our Skills Strategies and Sector Workforce Development Plans.
