Investigating training and qualification provision
The Research Team has commissioned a major study to map and analyse training and vocational provision relevant to the UK Creative Media and Fashion and Textiles Industries.
Alongside this, we are also undertaking a pilot project to test a range of methods for tracking the longer term career destinations of students who have benefited from Skillset Accredited courses in HE, from courses within our network of Media and Film Academies and from a selection of our funded (CPD and new entrants) short courses.
Building upon the wealth of information and intelligence already held within Skillset, this project will substantially enhance our knowledge of the skills ‘supply side' and careers journey to support future strategic planning.
Together this work aims to:
- Develop a comprehensive map and analysis of relevant provision within Higher Education (HE) and Further Education (FE)
- Investigate relevant provision within the private sector
- Investigate available data on learner destinations and current processes for destinations tracking
- Develop and test processes for longer term tracking of students from Skillset influenced and funded provision
- Measure investment into relevant courses within HE and FE
- Analyse available provision against market demand
The output will be a report that will provide a range of data on relevant courses, student numbers, demographics, attainment and careers destinations.
We plan to publish this report during 2011 once all research and analysis is complete.
