Skillset Research Strategy 2008-11
The next few years pose a number of challenges which will need to be addressed if Skillset is to exploit the opportunities presented by the Government's response to the Leitch Review of Skills.
In particular, the Leitch Review sets out a vision of a demand-led system in which the employer voice is paramount. Current government policy places emphasis on lower level skills. It is therefore crucial that the voice of employers and the self-employed in our industries is clearly articulated so that the higher level skills on which they rely are not overlooked.
Skillset's industry-endorsed research programme is the key mechanism to capture and express these views. The programme uses well-developed methodologies and relationships to gather robust Labour Market Intelligence (LMI) about the industries.
