Skillset's commitment to Diversity
"If your business is telling stories about the society in which you work, it makes sense to ensure the people who tell the stories are representative of the society as a whole."
(Skills for Tomorrow's Media, Skillset/DCMS)
Skillset is passionate about promoting diversity, which remains a key focus within the Creative Industries. Certain groups are still underrepresented within the workforce, as highlighted in Skillset's Research Programme which reveals the following headline information about the Creative Industries' demographic make-up as well as major variation by sector:
- 42% of the Creative Media workforce are women
- 6% of the workforce is from a Black Asian or Minority Ethnic Background (BAME)
- 8% of the workforce have a disability
- Those aged 50 years and over make up 23% of the workforce
Our Diversity Policy, Strategy and Action Plans set out our overall approach to diversity within Skillset and in the wider Creative Industries. Follow the links below to access the full documents and to find out more about our commitment to diversity.
