"If your business is telling stories about the society in which you work, it makes sense to ensure the people who tell the stories are representative of the society as a whole"
(Skills for Tomorrow's Media, Skillset/DCMS)
Skillset is passionate about promoting diversity, which remains a key focus within the audio visual industries. Certain groups are still under represented within the workforce, as highlighted in the Skillset Employment Census 2006 which uncovered the following information about gaps in the industries' demographic make-up:
- Only 38% of audio visual employees are women
- Only 7.4% of employees are from minority ethnic groups
- Employees with disabilities account for only 1.0% of the workforce
- Those aged 50 years and over make up only 15% of employees
Our Diversity Policy, Strategy and Action Plans set out our overall approach to diversity within Skillset and in the wider industries. Follow the links below to access the full documents and to find out more about our commitment to diversity.
