Women and Gender issues
The Skillset 2005 Survey of the Audio Visual Industries' Workforce found that women in the audio visual industries still earn less than men for doing the same or similar work. Access is also an issue. Older women are noticeably absent in the industries compared to UK employment patterns as a whole, and they are potentially excluded by the rigours of bringing up children and the incompatability of this with long hours and chaotic employment patterns.
Watch this space for Skillset's upcoming report focussing on the issue of increasing opportunities for parents or would-be parents in the audio visual industries.
