Age Discrimination
Despite being one of the most long-standing forms of prejudice, age discrimination has for too long been sidelined in the diversity awareness world. But, following the introduction of the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006, employers and vocational training providers across all industries now have obligations to play fair - towards both younger and older people, whether current or potential employees.
Check out the following organisations for advice and information on age discrimination issues and how to counteract them:
Age Positive Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)-based team promoting the benefits of mixed-age workforces which campaigns against discrimination towards both older and younger people. Includes clear information on the Government's campaign on tackling age discrimination and promoting age diversity in the workplace.
