South West Screen & EM Media get Industry Approval

Press Release
13 October 2003

EM Media and South West Screen have been recognised as Regional Training Partners by the Skillset Approvals System. The system is based on industry agreed benchmarks and is a quality endorsement awarded to organisations that have demonstrated that the training offered meets the needs of the broadcast, film, video and interactive media industries.

Clive Jones, Head of Carlton TV, Joint Managing Director of ITV and Skillset Chair, said:

"Congratulations to EM Media and South West Screen. Their high standards and quality training provision is of great benefit to our workforce and therefore, greatly benefits the future success of our industry. Skillset looks forward to a long and fruitful association with them both."

Ken Hay, Chief Executive of EM Media welcomed the recognition saying:

"It demonstrates the success and diversity of both the East Midlands' media economy and EM Media's critical role in supporting its development. The approval process itself was exceptionally useful, highlighting both what we were doing well, but equally where there was scope for future development. We are very much looking forward to developing further our relationship with Skillset as we both seek to support the development of the sector."

Jules Channer, Director of Education and Skills, South West Screen, added:

"This approval marks a new stage in our development as a regional screen agency. For staff, it rewards a great deal of hard work in achieving the highest standards of delivery. And for those we work with from industry, education, private and public sector, it shows partnership is the way forward. And we have the badge to prove it."
