Skillset becomes first Sector Skills Council to be awarded Disability Standard
2 November 2009
Skillset has become the first Sector Skills Council (SSC) to be awarded the Disability Standard.
Skillset achieved a bronze banding of the standard, which was awarded by the Employers' Forum on Disability. Out of the 106 organisations who participated this year, Skillset was ranked 51st overall and 6th out of the 11 other organisations from the charity and not-for-profit sector.
Skillset's Chief Executive Dinah Caine said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this accolade. Achieving the Disability Standard demonstrates Skillset's commitment to diversity within the workplace, not just in our policies, but in every aspect of our day-to-day practice."
The Disability Standard is the only business-led benchmark that measures an organisation's performance on every aspect of disability as it affects a business. Delivered by Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD), it shows organisations where they are on disability, where they need to be and how to get there.
