Four new Patrons for Skillset
LONDON: Lord Chris Smith, former Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and Charles Allen, Chief Executive of ITV plc, have become Patrons of Skillset, Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries. Joining them are Huw Jones, former Chief Executive of S4C and John McCormick, former head of BBC Scotland, who are both former Chairs of Skillset Cymru and Skillset Scotland respectively. Estelle Morris, Skillset's President of Patrons, said:

Chris Smith said:
“The reason Britain punches well above its weight in film and television work around the world is down to one thing only: the skills and commitment of the people involved. That's why training and skills development are so vital – and why the work of Skillset has never been more important. I'm proud to be a Skillset Patron.”
Charles Allen said:
"Skills development will be critical for ITV going forward as we adapt to changing technology both in production and the distribution of our channels and content. Therefore, I am delighted to take on this role as Patron of Skillset, because of their strategic role in developing the skills agenda across film, TV and new media."
John McCormick said:
"I am delighted and honoured to continue my association with Skillset as a Patron. In a relatively short time Skillset has brought strategic focus to the skills and training needs of the sector in Scotland, which are essential if the industry is to strengthen and develop in the years ahead."
Huw Jones said:
“Working as Chair of Skillset Cymru has been very rewarding for me over the years and I am thrilled to extend a long standing and fruitful relationship by now becoming a Skillset Patron. Skillset's work on behalf of the audio visual industries is invaluable and has my wholehearted support.”
