Clive Jones Awarded CBE Honour

Clive Jones, Chair of Skillset and, until recently, Chief Executive of ITV News, has been awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to broadcasting.

Clive's distinguished broadcasting career started in 1978 and saw him as an award winning news and documentary maker in ITV before moving into management as Editor of TVAM, Managing Director of London News Network and Managing Director of Central Television. Clive is currently the non-executive Chairman of GMTV.

Clive Jones said: "It is an honour to have this award bestowed upon me for my work in an industry that I love and care passionately about. I have been very fortunate to be able to work with organisations, like Skillset, who can instigate changes in broadcasting and can make a real difference to the industry as it moves forward into a new age."

Apart from Chairing Skillset, Clive Jones also sits on the board of the Sector Skills Development Agency and is the single non-executive director of Welsh fourth channel broadcaster S4C. He Chairs the Wales IP Fund and Creative Business Wales for the Welsh Assembly Government, and Mediabox, the UK Government's new £6m youth media fund. Clive was made a fellow of the Royal Television Society in 1997. He was also the founder of the Cultural Diversity Network, and holds board appointments with The Old Vic, the Runnymede Trust and other charities which illustrates his commitment to organisations which promote education, training, multiculturalism, homelessness and diversity within the UK.

Dinah Caine, Chief Executive Officer of Skillset said:"This honour is very richly deserved. Clive works tirelessly and has made an enormous contribution to our work by investing large amounts of his time to promote the work of Skillset and the crucial importance of skills to the Audio Visual industries and the wider UK economy on many different platforms."
