Where do I start? With cross sector Standards
Most jobs require specific skills which may be common to different roles, like communication, management and health & safety skills.
These generic Standards can be used as a starting point for training, writing job decriptions and benchmarking performance, to name a few.
The generic Standards which exist within the Creative Industries are:
- Manage and market yourself as a freelancer
- Facilitate and manage trainees
- Co-ordinate your team and performers and work effectively with production colleagues
- Agree contracts for your services
- Contribute to good working relationships
- Make sure your own actions reduce risks to Health & Safety
- Conduct an assessment of risks in the workplace
- Develop Procedures to safety control work operations
All of these Standards can be downloaded for free - access generic Standards.
Other Standards are available which focus specifically on key generic areas such as administration, management and leadership, IT and Business skills.
The majority of these Standards are available free of charge via: National Occupational Standards Directory but can also be accessed through these bodies:
- Management Standards
Management Standards Centre - Business and administration Standards
The Council for Administration (CfA) - IT Standards
e-skills - Finance Standards
