Armoury
Armoury is a discrete department of film and television productions. Charged with providing, transporting and supervising all weapons on set, Armourers work to the highest professional levels in potentially dangerous circumstances.
Their work has many safety critical elements and this is a key focus of the best practice outlined in the National Occupational Standards (Standards).
The Armoury and Weapon Hire Standards are formatted to enable companies, individuals, colleges and universities and training providers to identify the key requirements, in terms of knowledge and performance, which are needed to demonstrate competence in any safety critical department.
National Occupational Standards (Standards) provide a clear, up to date description of what an individual needs to be able do in order to perform a job successfully. They consist of a detailed breakdown of the tasks, knowledge and skills needed for effective performance within a job role, including any statutory or legal responsibilities. The Standards have been developed over a number of years by both people who work in the industry and experts from each occupational area through a process of investigation, analysis and consultation with a wide range of people.
