Sector Skills Agreements in Action

The Sector Skills Agreement process has uncovered a number of common issues and potential solutions that cross sectoral divides.

Based on rigorous research, extensive consultation and challenging discussions about responsibility and action, our sector strategies set out a programme of reform and change.

Quite appropriately, it is the industry which is setting the pace in terms of the action required to make sure that our industries have people with the right skills to ensure the present and future competitiveness of the UK's audio visual sector.

The collaborative solutions highlighted in these SSAs focus on seven key areas, shown below - please click on the links to find out more about our projects and progress around these themes:

  • School-based provision
  • Further and Higher Education
  • Information, Advice and Guidance
  • Introducing Apprenticeships
  • Support for Small Businesses
  • Freelancers
  • Research
  • Qualifications

  • SSA success in England

There has been major progress across all of Skillset's sectors since the publication in 2005 of the original Sector Skills Agreement and Regional Collaborative Action Plans (RCAPs).
