Qualifications and Progression to Work
Skillset has published a Sector Qualification Strategy (SQS) supplemented with an action plan for the creative media industries. The majority of high level actions are UK-wide; however they are presented in separate Action Plans for each home nation.
Through the SQS and action plan, Skillset has identified 3 broad types of qualifications described as being of value to the sector:
- Sector-related qualifications: general educational value, suppporting communication, creative and media literacy skills development
- Prepatory Qualifications: for pre-entry to employment
- Occupational Qualifications: post-entry to employment and/or higher level qualifications.
Skillset will be approaching the development of the above types of qualifications differently, based on national and sector requirements and the use of the qualifications by the sector.
