Yorkshire & Humber Education Focus Group
Skillset has established an Education Focus Group (EFG) for Yorkshire & Humber. The aim of this group is to advise us on education matters relevant to the formal and informal education sectors and inform our work with Further and Higher Education as part of the Yorkshire & Humber Collaborative Action Plan. The group will also input into the development and implementation of a qualifications strategy for the audio visual industries, which is in line with the Government's Skills Strategy. It will provide a forum to discuss issues around education and training from a regional perspective, including partnership networks and employer engagement.
The objectives of the group are to enable education institutions, training providers and key regional stakeholders to:
- receive information about current developments in education and skills;
- discuss key issues at a strategic level;
- advise on qualifications development for sectors and occupations;
- consider the implications of developments and identify creative and innovative solutions to potential problems;
- participate in the on-going development and review of the sector qualifications strategy;
- feed into the work of the Skillset Industry Skills Panel for Yorkshire & Humber, facilitating a two-way dialogue between the supply and demand sectors within the Region.
Ruth Palmer, North East, Yorkshire & Humber Regional Manager at Skillset, is the Chair of this group and membership comprises representatives from:
- - Further Education;
- Centres of Vocational Excellence;
- Higher Education Institutions;
- Schools with Specialist Status;
- Regional Funding Organisations;
- Key Stakeholders;
- Other Stakeholders depending on agenda items.
The meetings take place when it is deemed appropriate by members.
