English Regional Strategies
Skillset works with regional partners, stakeholders, employers and individuals to identify and prioritise skills issues at a local level. The solutions and initiatives implemented to respond to these issues are then tailored to the distinctive needs of the individual area.
Skillset has now formulated the a set of regional skills strategies and regional collaborative action plans that define the agenda for all regional skills development activity in the English audio visual industries. These documents are the result of extensive research and consultation with stakeholders, industry, key media cluster groups and other important bodies in the regions. Their purpose is to:
- Influence investment by Learning and Skills Councils, the Regional Development Agencies, the Higher Education Funding Council and others in the Regional Skills Partnership
- Guide and reflect the skills elements of the work of the Regional Screen Agencies
- Help create better communication with colleges and universities, supporting the development of excellence in media provision that meets industry need.
East Midlands Skills Strategy and Collaborative Action Plan
Skillset, in collaboration with EM Media, has developed an East Midlands Skills Strategy for the Audio Visual Industries, underpinned by consultation with the industries in the region. Read more here.
