Sector Skills Agreement for Northern Ireland

Skillset's Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) for the audio visual industries in Northern Ireland will provide a secure foundation on which to build and strengthen our relationship to deliver greater value and benefits to the industry as a whole.

We will work collectively with our partners to achieve better value for money, minimise duplication of effort and increase the relevance of available national provision. One factor unites the industry - success is attributed to the skills of people and the products and services they supply.

The Sector Skills Agreement for Northern Ireland prioritises a range of collaborative actions, requiring commitment and support from industry and Government and its public agencies, which will then inform further consultation and discussion with our key strategic partners, leading to the development of individual partner action plans as the final stage in the Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) process.

These collaborations and solutions will underpin the growth and competitiveness of the audio visual industries in Northern Ireland now and in the future.

Skillset's Skills Panel in Northern Ireland has played a crucial part in the development of our SSA in Northern Ireland. The panel participated in a "futures" workshop, early on in the process to explore the needs and skills demands facing the industry in 2010 and they have provided detailed feedback on the first working draft of the agreement.

The Sector Skills Agreement was officially launched at a high-profile industry event at the Odyssey in Belfast early February 2007 for Sector Skills Councils and key employers.
