Sector Skills Agreement for London

The Creative Industry is one of the most vibrant, fastest growing and profitable sectors in the London economy.

As the London Development Agency's own figures show they accounts for £21 billion or 16% of London's Gross Value Added (GVA) annually, it is the second largest industry after the business services sector.

It is London's second biggest source of job growth, contributing roughly one in every five new jobs.

Our Sector Skills Agreement for London (SSA) is a strategic action plan based on an extensive programme of research into the current and future skills the creative media industries in London need. You can download it here:

Sector Skills Agreements are designed to ensure that the skills employers and learners need in order to succeed are the ones the education and learning system provides. This document, produced with the support of the European Social Fund (ESF), revises and updates our previous SSA and reflects the considerable progress that has been made since then.

As well as a current analysis of the skills situation for each sector, this SSA update takes into account the latest economic and policy situation and the changes and challenges against which the SSA must be delivered.

It sets out a new and demanding vision and agenda for action in this context and sets out key challenges and solutions for Government and stakeholders.

The SSA is both a statement of industry need and a reconfirmation of industry commitment and investment. Critically, it is a tool for harnessing and declaring partner commitment to our mission.

We want to build on what we have already achieved together and develop measurable, joined-up declarations of action, with well-defined outcomes, against which we can all be held to account.
