New trends in the industry contribute to the potential for accidents

Are you in control of the risks?

The need to protect everyone working on a set against the many potential risks (including the increasing possibility of being sued), has made Health and Safety more important than ever.

Most freelancers, employees and staff will be expected to ensure that their own actions reduce risks to Health and Safety. Likewise managers and Heads of Department will be expected to be able to conduct an assessment of risks in the workplace. While employers (and some freelancers) will also be expected to have a Heath & Safety Policy in place and develop procedures to control risks to health and safety.

All personnel should also make sure that there is a current insurance policy and public liability policy in place to cover that covers their activities.

These Health & Safety requirements are covered in greater detail in Skillset's Health and Safety Guide and theNational Occupational Standards (NOS) for the audio visual industries. The relevant Health & Safety NOS are:
