Skillset Screen Academies
In 2005, the Skillset Screen Academy Network were institutions identified by the UK Film Industry as 'centres of excellence' in film education and training.
The Network is made up of six Skillset Screen Academies and the Film Business Academy at Cass Business School.
The Screen Academy Network is ensuring the UK film industry has a highly skilled workforce, by providing the best training to new entrants and film professionals. The Academies use Skillset's research to tackle skills shortages by offering short courses for established film professionals who want to improve their skills as well as offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses to help people enter the industry. One of our Academies, Skillset Screen Academy at London College of Communications & Ealing Institute of Media (LCC & EIM), focuses specifically on craft and technical skills.
Skillset supports the Screen Academy Network in a variety of ways; providing funding, which allows the Academies to give bursaries to students who couldn't otherwise afford film school; promoting student films and their work to the industry via film festivals; and providing access to Skillset 100 - where top film professionals visit and give masterclasses to students, plus much more.
For more information on the courses currently on offer and on the Academies themselves, please see below.
