Skillset TV Freelance Fund
The Skillset TV Freelance Fund makes money grants to training organisations to deliver courses and development activities that will benefit the UK television industry. The fund also contributes to the Screen Bursaries scheme.
Freelancers make up over a third of the TV industry's workforce, but only a fifth of TV employers carry out training and development for the freelancers they employ, and this is usually on the job training.*
The Skillset TV Freelance Fund is the result of an agreement between all UK broadcasters, Pact and the Broadcast Training and Skills Regulator (BTSR), to invest in training for the freelance television workforce. The contributors are: BBC, ITV (including all national and regional companies), Channel 4, Five, cable and satellite companies, and the Indie Training Fund.
