Receiving a Grant from the TV Fund
If your application for funding has been successful, we will ring or email you with an informal offer in the week of the Committee meeting (up to 8 weeks after the application deadline). If we require any extra conditions to be met before the grant goes ahead, we will let you know about these at this time. With that done, we will send you the grant offer letter, branding guidelines and Skillset logos, and we will ask to see your marketing and publicity materials before they are published to ensure the TV Freelance Fund is acknowledged and the Skillset logo is used.
Once we've agreed your publicity, we will issue formal terms and conditions of grant and reporting materials. Please note, though, that there may be extra criteria we add to your documents depending on the project you're running.
You must sign and return the terms and conditions by the date given (usually around 4 weeks). See examples below, but please note these are just examples and terms and conditions may vary depending on the kind of project you're running:![]()

For reporting we will send you by email Skillset Project Report and Budget Report templates which will need to be completed when you claim your grant. Please note these should be completed and sent to us by email. The Budget Report must be sent to us in excel format. Below you will find copies of general versions but your particular reports will be tailored to the type of scheme you're running.
How your grant will be paid?
All grants from the TV Freelance Fund are made in arrears – unless you have a joint Film and TV grant, in which case you need to follow Film's reporting requirements
We will make payments either once the course has run (for short courses) or at the end of each quarter (for longer or new entrant schemes) once we've received your reporting materials.
Evaluation
It is central to Skillset's quality monitoring that we understand how you spend the funds you've received, and the results they've generated. This is why we expect you to evaluate your project both during its life and after its ended.
In the Evaluation section of your application form you will have told us:
- how you will evaluate your project; and
- how you will track the progress of your participants for a minimum of 12 months after the end of your project.
Evaluation can help you:
- assess what is working well and not working well in your project as it happens;
- inform and improve your current and future projects;
- show what happened as a result of your project; and
- see how successful you were in meeting your aims.
Examples of evaluation include:
- questionnaires e.g. – asking participants to fill in feedback sheets at the end of training sessions;
- interviews e.g. – meeting with an employer to discuss their views on a trainee placement;
- discussion or focus groups e.g. organising sessions during and at the end of a project where participants can discuss their experiences.
