Freelance producer? Get Leading Edge Series Producer training
Skillset is working with a TV industry panel in North West England to develop a tailored course to help junior TV production staff understand the key concepts and tools needed to become a Production Manager.
The course will be accredited by Salford University. The first intake is expected to start a pilot run of this course in early 2009.
The people best suited to the course will be those with some experience of TV production management such as production co-ordinators, assistants, accountants and first assistant directors. The main qualifying criterion is the potential to succeed at the level of production manager.
Freelancers who can demonstrate they have previous experience within the role will also be eligible to apply.
The course will run over four weeks with a three day residential in the first and fourth weeks. In the two intervening weeks, the trainees will carry out tasks within their usual working environment and make structured visits to other related companies in the television sector in the North West.
The course is still being designed in collaboration with the panel which includes representatives from BBC, ITV, Lime, Scarlett TV, Libra TV and freelancers Josh Dyvenor and Dee Hamid. We'll keep you up to date with developments and how the pilot goes in due course. Watch this space!
