Ten producers get on the Fast Track
Ten experienced freelance television producers have achieved a place on the new Fast Track Series Producer scheme, a ground-breaking new training programme aimed at cultivating the next generation of senior production talent.
Supported by the Skillset TV Freelance Fund and run by DV Talent, Fast Track will run over six months and consists of a week of intensive masterclasses and practical workshops followed by four weekend training sessions as well as one-on-one mentoring. It will also feature exclusive access to key Executives and Commissioners through a series of networking events.
The trainees will learn skills central to the role of Series Producer, including shaping the series, effective leadership, handling talent, understanding audiences and diversity, financial matters, 360 degree commissioning, and compliance and ethics.
The tutors on the course are the makers of landmark series such as Panorama, Wife Swap and The Apprentice, as well as experts in specialist fields like people management and multi-platform production. The emphasis is on hands-on learning - making mistakes in the classroom rather than out in the field.
